Inside Measuring ScaleAll WMF pressure cookers have a clear measuring scale inside to ensure accurate measuring and ease of use. A pressure cooker generates steam, and in order to work and insure that the functionality is not impaired, at least ¼ litre of liquid is required. All WMF pressure cookers should never be filled with more than the maximum of 2/3 of its capacity. If making dishes that bubble or dishes with beans, pulses or rice the pressure cooker should not be filled more than half way as the ingredients will need room to expand. You will find further information about cooking times and filling quantities in the Cooking Time Chart included with your pressure cooker.
Putting on the lid To put the lid on you need to align the marking on the lid and the pot handle. You will then be able to lock the lid by turning it clockwise while your hand is slightly pressing the lid from above on the opposite side. Once the lid is closed you can then push the knob located at the end of the handle until the green section is no longer visible. At this point you can select your required heat setting by aligning the indicators on the lid and handle.
HeatingThe Ultra pressure cooker is easy to operate. The automatic workings are inside the all in one twisting handle. With the choice of two heat settings the required cooking pressure can be selected by one simple turning action. Close the pot and turn the knob at the end of the handle to the correct setting. Switch on the timer on the lid handle and enter the required cooking time. Put the filled and locked pot on the hob and set the heat source to a maximum energy supply. During the duration of the cooking time air escapes through the cooking valve and will do so until the vale closes for the pressure to build, at this point a red light will show signifying that the pressure cooker is now locked and can not be opened. As the pressure begins to build you will be able to observe the cooking indicator beginning to rise. Once the preset heat setting has been reached an acoustic signal is then made by the timer to notify you that the cooking time has begun. The timer will then count down the cooking time in minutes and will alert you by 5 bleeps which are repeated once the duration has been completed, preventing any unintentional opening.
The two orange rings indicate the two heat settings: Cooking on 1 - the 1st orange ring operates on a pressure of 45 kPa, regulating pressure 90 kPa (110°C) and is best suited for delicate vegetables, fish and poultry.Cooking on 2 - the 2nd orange ring operates on a pressure of 95kPa, regulating pressure 130 kPa max 150 kPa (119°C) and is great for substantial dishes and meat.
| Cooking time The cooking time begins once the timer has notified you by making an acoustic signal. At this point the ring position on the cooking indicator needs to remain stable. If the cooking indicator falls below the required orange ring just simply turn the heat up, this will prolong the cooking time a little. If the cooking indicator rises above the preset heat setting this will result in excess steam escaping via the valve on the lid handle. If this occurs the pot simply needs to be removed from the hob until the cooking indicator falls and the required ring remains visible, at this point the pot can then be placed back onto the hob at a reduced heat setting. The cooking time table included with your pressure cooker contains references to cooking times and suitable heat settings you are advised to cook with. In the beginning you will need some practice in order to select the appropriate cooking time, which depends on the food to be cooked and individual preferences. With time you will get to know your pressure cooker and the process will become easier. Please note that steam will escape from the valve throughout the cooking process. |
| Opening the potOnce the cooking time has been completed the timer will alert you by sounding 5 short beeps and will do so up to 4 times if not switched off. You will then need to depressurise your pressure cooker using one of the 4 methods stated below before opening;1. For extended cooking times remove the pot from the hob and after a short time the cooking indicator will fall. Once the indicator is no longer visible the light on the timer will turn from red to green. At this point you can then turn the knob to the open/close position and pull it backwards. During this procedure steam will escape from under the lid handle on the top of the cooker. Once all steam has escaped simply shake the pot and open.2. For slow steam release you can turn the knob to the open/close position. The steam will then escape slowly from under the lid handle on the top of the cooker. Once the indicator is no longer visible and the timer indicator has changed from red to green simply shake and open.3. For a quick steam release simply turn the knob to the open/close position and pull back, the steam will then begin to be released quickly. Once the indicator is no longer visible and the timer indicator has changed from red to green you can then briefly shake the pot and open.4. If concerned about the escaping steam you can place your pressure cooker into your sink and run cold water over it. Please note that the timer must be removed before doing this to prevent it from getting wet and any damage being caused. When the indicator is no longer visible and the timer indicator has changed from red to green, no more steam should be released; you can then shake the pressure cooker and open.We advise you to shake your pressure cooker briefly before opening as this will release any pockets of steam from the food. This may occur when cooking liquid foods that may spit. |
2. Safe Technology All WMF pressure cookers are extremely safe and bear the GS seal for certified safety assigned by the German TÜV as well as the CE sign. Each pressure cooker has a quality check several times during the production process.Further safety features:1. Pressure can only build, if the lid has been closed and locked correctly. The pressurised pot cannot be opened until the indicator is no longer visible and the timer indicator has changed from red to green. This is to prevent any accidental opening.2. If the pot is over pressurised the main valve will automatically trigger the audible alarm. If this occurs please remove from heat and turn the knob to the open/close position. This will then stop the alarm allowing the excess steam to escape. Please note that the steam will always flow away from your body, when the handle is facing you. 3. Additional safety is guaranteed by the start-up automatic valve. In cases of over pressure the ball inside the lid will rise and release the valve. 4. The last safety feature is the cooking timer indicator. The indicator will show a red light during the cooking time and a green light when the duration has been completed. The green light will only show once the pressure cooker has been depressurised and is safe to open. 5. The side of the lid has a small gap where the sealing ring can be seen. If the pressure cooker is not removed form the heat this allows the sealing ring to push out and thus release steam from insideWMF as a company with over 150 years for manufacturing behind them regard safety as the most important feature of every pressure cooker. All of the above ensures that.
| 3. Easy Cleaning WMF pressure cookers are very easy to clean and one of the advantages of the Ultra pressure cooker is that there is no need to take it apart to clean the valves separately. Each part is sealed with a rubber seal to ensure easy cleaning. The removable handle, a perfect solution from WMF. The lid handle and timer can easily be unclipped for cleaning. To remove the timer from the handle simply withdraw the timer in an upward direction from the handle and wipe with a cloth. The handle can also be easily unclipped from the lid allowing the lid without the sealing ring to be cleaned in a dishwasher leaving the handle to be rinsed under the tap with no need to clean the valves separately. Please note that the handle should never be submerged in water as this will damage the handle. Once clean and dry reattach the handle and timer to the lid. The 18/10 stainless steel pot can be placed straight into the dishwasher. Efficient and functional, the Ultra pressure cooker is perfect for every day use. We recommend cleaning the sealing ring manually in water. In addition please read the care instructions for WMF cookware made out of Cromargan 18/10 stainless steel. |
